About eight years ago, I became frustrated with sugar-free chocolate.
Not mildly disappointed.
Truly frustrated.
Most of the options out there tasted waxy, chalky, strangely artificial, or had that weird cooling effect that somehow makes chocolate feel less like dessert and more like a dental product.
And honestly? I love chocolate too much for that.
At the same time, health has always been incredibly important to me. I genuinely believe reducing sugar — or eliminating it where possible — has the power to improve the health and lives of millions of people over time.
The problem was that most “healthy” chocolate didn’t actually feel indulgent. It felt like compromise.
I wanted better.
So I started experimenting.
It Started As A Hobby
At first, chocolate-making was simply fascinating to me.
The textures.
The chemistry.
The tempering.
The way tiny changes in ingredients or temperature could completely transform the final product.
I fell in love with every part of the process.
And the more I learned about craft chocolate, cocoa butter, refining, and tempering, the more obsessed I became with making sugar-free chocolate that actually tasted incredible.
Not “good for sugar-free.”
Just… genuinely good chocolate.
The Goal Was Never “Diet Chocolate”
That became the mission from the beginning.
I didn’t want to create another product people tolerated because they were avoiding sugar.
I wanted chocolate people actually craved.
Chocolate with:
- a silky melt
- a satisfying snap
- deep chocolate flavor
- balanced sweetness
- and the kind of texture that makes you immediately reach for another piece
Because life is too short for disappointing chocolate.
Small Batch By Choice
To this day, every batch is carefully refined, tempered, and crafted in small batches.
And honestly? I still love it.
I never dread making another batch.
I never get tired of tempering chocolate for hours.
It still feels exciting every time I see that glossy finish and perfect snap come together.
For me, this isn’t just production.
It’s fun.
And I think people can taste the difference when something is made by someone who genuinely loves the process.
Why Chetty’s Exists
Chetty’s Chocolates exists because I believed sugar-free chocolate could be better.
Better ingredients.
Better texture.
Better flavor.
Better experience.
Real chocolate made for real chocolate lovers.
Not diet chocolate.
And eight years later, I’m still just as obsessed with that mission as when I started. 🍫
